About the role

As an Audit and Accounts Manager working within our office, you will be working directly with the partners providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner. You will mentor, train and manage more junior members of staff to enable them to develop, progress and reach their potential.  

Whilst this role is predominately audit work, there is an opportunity to carry out non-audit work, including statutory accounts preparation, tax compliance advice and other ad-hoc services.

Skills & expertise

  • ACA or ACCA Qualified
  • At least 5 years of Auditing Experience
  • Competent technical knowledge of UK accounting (mainly FRS102) and auditing standards.
  • Strong IT skills, experience of using Audit and Accounts software, proficient in using Microsoft Office 365
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with clients, partners, and colleagues Ability to manage time to meet deadlines, prioritising and multi-tasking as required
  • Demonstrates diligence and attention to detail
  • Experience in supervising and working well as part of a team
  • High level of personal motivation and drive and ability to motivate and encourage others
  • Experience of managing a portfolio
  • Experience of working with a variety of clients including OMB’s and/or not for profit
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good commercial knowledge to ensure profitability and recoverability

Key responsibilities

  • Day to day leadership of Audits, including being the key contact for the client, engagement partner and supporting team members.
  • Oversee and complete the planning of audit assignments, identifying key risks, assessing how to test them, through to completing the audit tests for high risk areas.
  • Responsibility for setting and achieving agreed budgets and meeting deadlines.
  • Manage audits, supervising, delegating and reviewing work of more junior staff, assisting them with technical queries.
  • Debriefing the team with a key focus on quality and feedback
  • Delivery of complete Audit file for review.
  • Attendance at initial planning meetings and Audit close down meetings with the clients
  • Delivery of work carried out under the primary accounting frameworks, mainly FRS102.
  • Review of annual statutory accounts and corporation tax services.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, rules, and requirements.
  • Being a pro-active team player, overseeing and mentoring qualified staff and trainees, providing assistance when required.
  • Delivering information to clients in a timely manner whilst displaying in-depth client and industry knowledge.
  • Monitoring your chargeability and your assignment budgets pro-actively.
  • Developing specialist sector knowledge and keep abreast of industry developments .
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, rules, and requirements.
  • Deal directly with clients in person and on the phone, constantly building strong relationships, to provide a personal, professional and efficient service to the firms clients.
  • Identify and understand clients needs, including sometimes providing initial solutions to client challenges, then communicating these needs to the partner.
  • Achieve annual chargeable hours targets.
  • Be innovative in the way you approach your work and always look for opportunities to break new ground and create efficiencies.
  • Promoting the interest of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
  • Being involved in firm networking activities and potential new client tenders and meetings
  • Take responsibility for maintaining annual training requirements and be proactive in identifying your own training needs.
  • Adhere to internal admin, including billing clients and debt collection where required.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by both your changing role and the overall business objectives of the Firm.
