About the role
We are looking for year-long placement students work within the team to learn what it is like within an accounting practice and aim to provide the same experience for our placement students as we would for our graduate trainees.
On a daily basis our placement students work under the direction of senior staff and alongside trainees to provide a high-quality service to clients in respect of the preparation and audit of statutory and other accounts, together with various ad hoc assignments.
Our aim is to help you decide if a career in accountancy is something you want to pursue and leave the door open for students to reach out after University should they wish to apply for our graduate roles.
Key responsibilities
Our Placement Students work under the close supervision of senior staff. As you progress, you will be responsible for completing more challenging areas of work. The role will be based in one of our three offices but involve spending a proportion of time working at client sites throughout NI and sometimes GB.
An idea of some of the responsibilities you will learn on the job include:
- Drafting working papers to support the preparation of accounts for sole traders and small limited companies
- Drafting basic personal and corporation tax returns
- Assisting with audit field work (often attending clients’ premises)
- Work with different accounting software packages including Sage, Quickbooks, Xero
- Learn double entry and bookkeeping skills
- Communicating with clients
- Support other departments within the firm as and when needed

You will be expected to demonstrate the following:
· Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree
· 100 UCAS points to include GCSE in both English and Mathematics at grade C or higher (or equivalent)
